Ballade of Women
Ballade of Women is an immersive interactive exhibition. The exhibition aimed to give an experiential form to a discussion on women's rights. Eliciting individual reflections through visceral engagement. Dynamic projections, moving panels and directional audio formed myriad of content. Moving in the space invited visitors to form their own narratives from the fragmented and complex whole.
The exhibtion examined three themes: violence, self-determination and emancipation. Each theme based on one of the paintings from the collection of the Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena. Cleopatra (emancipation), Maria Maddalena (self-determination) and Lucia di Siracusa (violance).
Women's rights, especially through the lense of these three themes, are inherently complex. The installation merged embodied and situated perspectives of visitors in the space with online perspectives from social media.
